We of a certain age and musical temperament remain on a first name basis with Tony, Ella, Bing, Frank, Fred, Nat, Judy &amp; Lena.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Countless\u00a0times older people ask me, \u201cWhat happened to the songs?\u201d &#8220;Will any of today&#8217;s music last?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is in response to\u00a0the pleasurable, nostalgic rush they get\u00a0using my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fredgrams.com\">musical\u00a0greeting card\u00a0site FredGrams.com<\/a>\u00a0or enjoying\u00a0the live presentations of my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fredmillermusic.com\/LecturesInSong\/\">Lectures-in-Song<\/a> on American Popular Music. They miss the hummable melodies, the expressive, clear lyrics, the soul satisfaction of simple, great songs stretching all the way\u00a0to America&#8217;s earliest days and back:\u00a0Tin Pan Alley, Broadway &amp; Hollywood musicals\u00a0thru the arrival of the Beatles, Motown, the Beach Boys and their\u00a0 60s contemporaries. Why have things gone so totally to seed?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The simple answer to these oft-repeated questions is that musical consumers have become younger and younger, and adults are no longer the gatekeepers for what their children see and hear. There\u00a0is no\u00a0mature filter on things musical or anything else really,\u00a0a reflection of\u00a0fundamental social change, not necessarily for the better.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is for this reason I offer a varied, growing series of <a href=\"https:\/\/fredgrams.com\/category_thumb\/index\/7\">Musical eCards (FredGrams) specifically for young parents<\/a> to familiarize their children with the best of traditional music\u00a0and the composers who wrote it.
